Prevea on the Move: Pints & Pointers

This week’s Prevea On the Move gives us a sneak peak at what will be talked about at the upcoming Prevea Pints & Pointers event.  Join us, Wednesday, Feb. 6 for Prevea Pints & Pointers: Running Mechanics and Setting Appropriate Goals at Titletown Brewing Co., 200 Dousman St., Green Bay.

Green Bay Running Club President Jim Aniol will discuss how to improve your running mechanics through your form and how that can better your time and prevent injury. Jim will also talk about setting realistic running goals, motivating beginner and experienced runners.

Prevea on the Move – Pints & Pointers: You Have to Believe

This week’s Prevea On the Move previews the upcoming Prevea Pints & Pointers event entitled You Have to Believe. Christian Jensen, Executive Director of MyTeamTriumph and his captain Mary Cox will tell their story about fear turning into success. Also, hear  Rod Maccoux and his brother John tell their inspirational story about how they overcame Rod’s challenge of being blind and started running together. To close the night, Larry Lueck, First Timer Director for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, will address any questions or concerns you may have about marathon day and leave you prepared and confident.

The last Prevea Pints & Pointers of the season will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at Titletown Brewing Co., second floor, 200 Dousman Street, Green Bay. Prevea Pints & Pointers is a free series with expert speakers offering tips and answering questions about running and preparing for the marathon.

Post-Marathon Free Injury Consult Clinic

If you get an open blister or injury yourself in any other way from running in the marathon, come to the free Injury Consult Clinic at Prevea Sports Medicine. A Licensed Athletic Trainer will evaluate your injuries and recommend your next step; whether it’s a home exercise program, a trip to Urgent Care, an appointment with a physician or other specialized care.

Prevea Pints & Pointers – You Have to Believe

 Runners have physically trained for the past 16 weeks and now their mental training comes into play. They often wonder and question if they will cross the finish line. During this session, ultra marathoner Roy Pirrung, a 60-time national championship winner and world record holder, will help runners believe in themselves. He will share his advice on being physically and mentally prepared, confident and strong for race day.

Prevea Pints & Pointers – Nutrition for Runners

Runners often wonder what foods to eat and avoid during their marathon training season and the days leading up to the marathon. Deb Guenterberg, Prevea Health Nutritionist and 2011 Boston Marathon qualifier, will help answer these questions and give runners tips to help them stay fueled for a healthy training season and marathon race.

We have a great opportunity for our first time runners at the next Prevea Pints & Pointers. Larry Lueck, First Timers Director for Cellcom Green Bay Marathon, will address common running questions – whether they are about training, the event itself or running in general. Veteran runners are encouraged to attend, and may help answer first timers’ questions.
